Technical description

Inspired by Hubert Sarton's astronomical skeleton clock, this collection features an enamel dial, a traditional material of the time. It embodies the elegance and precision of 18th-century Liège watchmaking expertise.

Powered by the Swiss Sellita SW221 caliber, this watch embodies watchmaking excellence. Its automatic mechanical movement, a nod to Sarton's invention, features 26 jewels, oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and offers a 38-hour power reserve, ensuring precise and consistent timekeeping. This 11 1/2-ligne caliber, renowned for its reliability and robustness, elegantly combines Swiss watchmaking tradition with contemporary performance, for a unique wrist experience.

The 43 mm diameter and 13.4 mm thick case is crafted from 316L steel, ensuring robustness and durability. Its matte black finish gives it a modern and discreet touch, while the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal ensures optimal protection against shocks and scratches. Water-resistant to 10 ATM and featuring a 20 mm lug width, this case combines solidity and elegance, guaranteeing the watch remarkable longevity without compromising on style.

The caseback, crafted from 316L stainless steel, features a polished gold finish that subtly highlights the watch's understated elegance. This choice of material not only ensures high corrosion resistance, but also gives the entire case a sophisticated and timeless look. Featuring a screw-down closure system, the caseback guarantees a secure and reliable fit, while preserving the simplicity and finesse of the design, for a practical and refined experience. In addition, it is fitted with a transparent sapphire crystal, allowing you to admire the movement and appreciate the mechanical beauty of the watch at every moment.

Mounted on a blue, green, or brown leather strap, which combines flexibility and robustness thanks to 316L steel, your watch stands out with an elegance that is both discreet and refined. Equipped with a double folding clasp, this strap offers optimal comfort and a secure fit, with an adjustable length from 180 to 220 mm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, the Sarton 1748 watch is a strictly limited edition of 275 numbered pieces. This small print run reinforces the rarity and value of this model, designed as a true legacy piece in tribute to watchmaker Hubert Sarton and the art of watchmaking.

Hubert Sarton was one of the first watchmakers to formalize the principle of the automatic rotor movement, in a memoir submitted to the Paris Academy of Sciences in 1778. This document describes a mechanism very similar to the one used today, with a free-swinging weight to automatically wind the watch. The formal attribution of the invention remains debated among watchmaking historians.
