MILESTONES

Certain moments redefine the established order. They mark a rupture, open a new horizon, and lastingly transform society . These historical milestones remind us that the world can change in an instant, ideas mutable, when courage meets the need to do things differently.

Col&McArthur commemorative watches: the Milestones universe

Col&McArthur commemorative watches: the Milestones universe

At Col&McArthur, commemorative watches, the common thread running through our collections, capture a memory meant to be passed down through generations. Three dimensions come together: the tribute paid to a remarkable figure, the story of a decisive chapter in our shared history, and the collection, when a verified fragment, meteorite or historic stone, makes the piece the material witness of a precise moment.

The Milestones collection gives these three dimensions as many dates and artefacts. The Patriot 1776 pays tribute to the American War of Independence, the Lunar 1969 to the conquest of the Moon, the Berlin 1989 to the fall of the Wall. To these are added the Railway 1926, devoted to the Belgian railways, and the Resilience 2020, which honours the strength humanity showed in the face of the pandemic.

How to choose your commemorative watch in the Milestones universe?

Choosing your watch means choosing the story you will wear on your wrist. After-sales care, rarity, the artefact and the materials: four elements that shape this choice.

Warranty and after-sales service

Warranty and after-sales service

Every Col&McArthur watch comes with a two-year warranty. Beyond that, our watchmakers carry out maintenance and repairs within the workshop itself, giving each piece lasting care.

An automatic movement requires servicing every three to four years. On a quartz watch, the battery must be replaced as soon as the movement stops.

Numbered or limited

Numbered or limited

Col&McArthur commemorative watches are assembled in limited quantities, which guarantees their collectible character. The Patriot 1776, in its automatic version, is thus produced in five hundred pieces. Some collections can also receive a personalised engraving, placing the piece within your own story.

The artefact

The artefact

In the Milestones universe, each model carries its artefact, the signature element that places the piece in a precise moment in history. A verifiable fragment, lunar meteorite, stone from the Berlin Wall, shard of a musket ball from the American War of Independence, always accompanied by a certificate or provenance documentation attesting to its origin.

Then comes the choice of materials and movement. 316L steel, the benchmark in watchmaking, or titanium, more noble and whose lightness offers singular comfort on the wrist. Swiss quartz, for its reliability and precision, or the mechanics of an automatic movement, which gives the piece its vocation to be passed on. These two choices also determine the watch's positioning within the collection.

The watches of the MILESTONES universe illustrate these key moments in history

The independence of the United States
1776 The independence of the United States

Adopted on 4 July 1776 in Philadelphia by the Second Continental Congress, the Declaration of Independence proclaimed the break of the thirteen British colonies in America from the Crown. The text, written largely by Thomas Jefferson within a committee of five, affirms that all men are created equal and that every government derives its legitimacy from the consent of the governed.

This proclamation did not end the war, it founded it. Fighting would continue for seven more years, until the British surrender at Yorktown in 1781, and independence would not be recognised by London until the Treaty of Paris in 1783. The date of 4 July therefore marks less a victory than a commitment made before knowing whether it could be kept.

Col&McArthur craftsmanship: traceability and certificate of authenticity

Every commemorative watch is delivered with documentation attesting to the origin of its artefact: supplier's attestation, certificate of authenticity or spectrometric analysis depending on the collection. Each piece is also engraved with its own unique number, in our workshop in Belgium.

The watches are assembled in the house's workshops by watchmakers who check their conformity before each shipment. This commitment to traceability allows the piece's future keeper to know with certainty the origin of the artefact they wear on their wrist.
