A quartz watch consists of an electronic circuit driven by a battery. The energy of the battery is used to vibrate a quartz oscillator and thus to operate the watch. Because of its electronic nature, the quartz movement is the most precise in watchmaking.
A mechanical watch is powered by the energy stored in a spring in the watch movement. Mechanical watches from Col&MacArthur are self-winding. This means that they are recharged by the movement of an oscillating weight when the watch is worn. Col&MacArthur watches have a power reserve of approximately 36 hours. After this period without being worn, the watch must be manually wound thanks to the winding stem.
The leather and Milanese mesh strap can be adjusted at a watchmaker, who has the right equipment, or directly at the Col&MacArthur workshop. Please do not hesitate to contact us if necessary, by phone at +32 460 22 67 87 or by e-mail at contact@cmarthur.com, or via the online chat or the “Contact us” tab.
If you are manual, it is however possible to perform this task on your own, thanks to the explanatory videos at your disposal.
Indeed, for this type of strap, the Col&MacArthur team offers a premium service to adjust the strap to your wrist before sending the watch. You will receive an e-mail as soon as you place your order on our official website.
In addition, upon receipt of your order, the watch is provided with additional mesh. Thus, the metal mesh strap can also be modified later. At a watchmaker, who has the right equipment or directly at the Col&MacArthur workshop. Please do not hesitate to contact us if necessary, by phone at +32 460 22 67 87 or by e-mail at contact@cmarthur.com, or via the online chat or the “Contact us” tab.
Quartz watches require a simple battery check every 2 to 3 years.
For mechanical watches, full maintenance is required every 3 years. It is also advisable to wind the watches regularly in order to activate the mechanism.
Quartz watches are water-resistant up to 5 atmospheres, meaning they can withstand depths of up to 50 meters. However, exposure to saltwater is not recommended. Diving is also discouraged, as the dynamic pressure from water impact can affect certain seals, potentially compromising the watch's integrity. To ensure water resistance, it is essential that the crown is properly pushed in and must never be operated underwater.
Regarding mechanical watches, they are water-resistant up to 10 atmospheres, which equates to depths of up to 100 meters. However, exposure to saltwater is still not recommended. Diving is also discouraged, as the dynamic pressure from water impact can affect certain seals, potentially compromising the watch’s integrity. To ensure water resistance, it is essential that the crown is properly pushed in and must never be operated underwater.
Watches can be used for sports activities. Nevertheless, sudden movements and shocks should be avoided.
All our watches are quality timepieces and are designed with the greatest care. However, it is essential to treat them as delicate jewellery. We recommend that you do not expose them to water, such as bath water, swimming pool water or sea water.
Water can damage the internal components and alter the beauty of your watch. To preserve their quality and elegance, we advise you to keep them away from water.
There is an average running time only for mechanical watches, this one is 38 hours. The average running time of Col&MacArthur watches indicates how long the watch remains functional without being worn. After this delay, the watch must be manually wound.
If you are prone to allergic reactions, contact the Col&MacArthur team, they will be happy to answer your questions.
The tolerance varies depending on the models and the type of watch you want to purchase.
Our quartz watches are more accurate than our mechanical watches. These contain within them a quartz which, under tension, vibrates at 35 kHz. The role of this crystal is to electronically process pulses on a regular basis. The accuracy of our quartz watches is -10 to +20 seconds per month.
These movements require regular maintenance in order to maintain increased tolerance. The accuracy of automatic mechanical watches is + or - 20 seconds per day. If you want more information about a particular model, you can directly download the datasheet of a watch in the « Technical description » tab on each of the product pages.
If you still have questions, you can contact the team by phone at +32 460 22 67 87 or by e-mail at contact@cmarthur.com, or via the online chat or via the “Contact us” tab.
The models we offer are unisex and vary between 38 and 43 mm in diameter. For each of our models you have the possibility to choose the type of strap and the diameter of the watch. In short, there is something for everyone.

This limited edition of 1918 numbered watches highlights those American soldiers who fought valiantly for our freedom.
Behind its sleek design and unalterable symbols, the "Armistice 1918" watch tells the story of that unique day of November 11, 1918, which ended the war. This mistress of time is now the legacy of our past.
Data sheet
The First World War, commonly known as the Great War, began for the Belgians on August 4, 1914, when Germany invaded Eastern Belgium. This conflict will last exactly 1,560 days. Nearly 10 million people of all nationalities will die during this war.
On the night of November 10-11, 1918, at 5 am, Allies and German generals met with Marshal Ferdinand Foch in the forest of Compiègne, near Paris to sign the Armistice. For the ceasefire on the battlefield, it was necessary to wait 6 hours after the signature causing the death of 800 more soldiers.
The signing of the Armistice took place at 5 o'clock in car N°2419 D of the International Sleeper Car Company, also the headquarters of the French armed forces during the war.
During the second battle of Passendale, Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae was marked by the loss of his friend. He took care of his funeral and observed that the poppies were rapidly growing on the graves of the fallen soldiers on the battlefield.
The next day he composed the poem “In Flanders Fields”. It is thanks to this poem that the poppy became the symbol of remembrance of our fallen soldiers.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If you break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
Although the Armistice was established, the battle did not end definitively until 6 hours later, leaving 800 more soldiers to perish.
At 10:59 am, Henry Gunther (H.G.) was the last soldier to fall on the battlefield of the First World War. One minute before the armistice came into effect, he was killed by a burst of automatic fire and died instantly.
A very beautiful quality product. It is a great pleasure to wear this beautiful Armistice 1918 Belgian version watch on my wrist. A warm welcome and quality service. We were impressed by the originality and symbolism of your creations, as well as by the enthusiasm and competence of your young watchmaker. Thank you again.
Much more than a watch, I ordered this watch and I must say I am more than satisfied! It contains a piece of history, with a lot of details. The craftsmanship is of good quality. I am quite picky about leather straps usually, but this one gives me complete satisfaction. The watch is delivered in very careful packaging. I truly recommend the house of Col&MacArthur; it really deserves to be known.
I was very pleased to receive these 2 watches quickly so I could give them to my grandsons.
Quality service for an exceptional 'jewel'. My husband is delighted (Armistice 14-18 Belgium) ? When will there be more feminine versions, at least in terms of sizes, without changing the already magnificent models? ? Thank you again for this beautiful piece and your meticulous and perfect work ?
Trés content de mon achat et un service clientèle excellent. Ce n'est certainement pas mon dernier achat. Bravo pour le service et la confection. a recommander ++
I took the armistice 1918 watch. And I am absolutely not disappointed! It is superb. I'm very happy with it. I highly recommend it!
Excited to receive it, in addition to a very fast and respected delay, the box is simply superb, like the watch. For my part, an armistice 1918. The strap is top with a perfect fastening system.
I have only one thing left to do, recommend Col&MacArthur!
Thank you for the Armistice 1918 order. It is a very nice watch and I received it by bpost on christmas eve around 10 o'clock. I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the box and the watch of course. I thank you again.
Superb watches of excellent quality with beautiful details. I have the "Armistice" watch and the "Leonardo da Vinci".
I ordered the Armistice 1918 watch. I received it a few weeks later. Great work on a watch with a strong historical value. I highly recommend the company Col and Mac Arthur. I am very pleased with the quality of the watch and the quality of the workmanship.
I think this watch is splendid and makes sense! It reminds me that we have nothing to complain about. We are not on the landing beaches in this murderous madness of the time!
I can quietly admire it every day and not forget the sacrifice of all these heroes.
Hello,
Please know that I am always attentive and curious about your new productions, perhaps a little too focused on military commemorations (certainly, there was the Moon March, which is indeed an exceptional event!).
I have the 11 November watch and I wear it with pleasure every day. You could usefully diversify the models according to exceptional personalities. I guess the commercial model is more delicate and the commercial risk greater.
In any case, I pay tribute to you.
Yours sincerely.
Bruno HENRI

A really great experience! Col&MacArthur answers our questions quickly, the follow-up is rather good and the watch looks good. My "Armistice 1918" is light and comfortable to wear. A first with a butterfly type bracelet, it is rather pleasant once on the wrist.
I would highly recommend this brand without hesitation!
Top quality Armistice watch, impeccable customer service.
Magnificent commemorative watches and a great concept.
What's more, it's a young company from Liège.
What more could you ask for? Simply, another watch ?

Superb brand and superb concept with a product of undeniable quality. I have no regrets about my purchase and I wear my "Armistice" watch on my wrist every day. I highly recommend this company. Great product and great delivery!
My father is very proud to wear the Armistice centenary watch.
Very beautiful box, a gift bag is missing when it is sent and everything will be perfect.
I subscribe to BBC history magazine and had admired the 1918 Armistice Commemorative watch on the back cover all year. In November I used the live chat feature and spoke to someone at Col & McArthur. They noted how late is was for them (it was 10pm in Ontario Canada) but went on to tell me how significant this timepiece was especially for a Canadian. George Price was the last soldier from the British Empire (or Commonwealth) to give his life at 10:48 am on 11/11/18. So many lives were lost for nothing that day leading up to the agreed upon ceasefire time of 11 am. George didn't have the best life leading up to the war but because of his bad timing is remembered where many are not. I was sold and ordered my watch. I receive many compliments on it and always tell the story of George Price to the admirers.
Magnificent watch, charged with emotion, I can only remember myself the memories and sacrifice of my great-grandfather and our "Poilus" for our country.
Very nice ride from the centenary of the Armistice of 1918. Delivery slightly postponed after the holidays, but announced by Col&MacArthur. To be recommended
I ordered and received the 1918 armistice watch on time.
I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and the know-how of this watchmaking company that I had never known before.
I purchased a commemorative Armistice 1918 watch from this company and could not be happier with the purchase. The workmanship and quality is excellent and I was kept informed of the progress of my order from start to finish. I would recommend this company to anyone. I am highly satisfied and will be looking to purchase from them again when the opportunity arises.
